  • No seu reinado, a Grã-Bretanha regressou ao sistema de alternância bi-partidária, depois de quase meio século de predomínio whig, ganhou a Guerra dos Sete Anos contra França que lhe valeram as colónias americanas daquele país, que mais tarde viria a perder, juntamente com as restantes colónias inglesas.
  • Iniciou o estabelecimento na Austrália (1788) e além da derrota de Napoleão, arrancou a Revolução Industrial que transformou um país maioritariamente rural na primeira potência industrial do mundo.
